Introduction

Helen was born and bred in Middlesbrough and after some time living away from the area, she was delighted to join Fountain Chambers after the completion of her pupillage in 2008. Prior to joining Chambers, she enjoyed a successful commercial career which has served her well at the Bar, enabling her to cut quickly to the pertinent issues and offer sound, practical advice.

Civil/Commercial: Helen’s practice encompasses many areas of civil and commercial law and she has a particular interest in employment law. She regularly appears in the Employment Tribunal and has appeared in the County Court and High Court on breach of contract matters. She appears on behalf of both employees and employers and regularly advises unions on issues affecting their members.

Helen has significant experience in the field of personal injury and has represented clients in relation to a wide range of claims from road traffic matters to industrial diseases. Her broad civil practice also encompasses landlord and tenant disputes (both residential and commercial), insolvency, general chancery work and complex contractual disputes including consumer credit.


Criminal: Helen also enjoys a healthy criminal practice and regularly appears in both the Crown and Magistrates’ Courts. She has experience in the Court of Appeal.
