Introduction
Since taking Silk in 1983, Martin has acted as Leading Counsel for either defence or prosecution in more than 100 murder or manslaughter cases. In recent years he has acted for Customs and Excise in prosecuting a linked series of cases involving laundering of money in excess of £300 million.
He now only accepts instructions in criminal cases but until recently practised extensively, both as a junior and silk, in personal injury and medical negligence cases. He is therefore very experienced in dealing with medical, technical and other expert evidence.
He has extensive experience in cases involving charges of: murder and manslaughter, complex fraud, large-scale conspiracy, drug-trafficking/importation.
He was formerly Head of Chambers at Park Lane Chambers in Leeds.
