Collette Price

Call: 1997 Gray's Inn

Education: MA (Cantab); BA (Hons) in Law, Cambridge University

Introduction

Collette joined Fountain Chambers in 2000 having completed pupillage and obtained tenancy at Chambers in Manchester. Having had an interest in family law since puillage in 2007 Collette took the decision to specialise only in this area. She regularly appears on behalf of Local Authorities and aprents in care cases and is therefore aware of a broad range of difficulties inherent in any public law proceedings. As well as the more usual problems arising in such matters she has had dealings with the complications arising from consideration of factitious illness by proxy and 'brittle bone' disease. Having been instructed on a number of occasions by the police in relation to disclosure matters she also understands the competing considerations where there are concurrent family and criminal proceedings.

Coming from a civil background Collette also enjoys dealing with financial matters following the breakdown of relationships. This obviously includes ancillary relief proceedings but also extends to cohabitee disputes where her 10 years of civil experience is of great assistance in dealing with TOLATA claims and eforcement orders.

In addition, Collette has extensive experience of dealing with private law family disputes. This includes all types of orders available to the courts under s8 of the Children Act 1989; applications for removal of children from the jurisdiction and injunctive relief.
