Introduction

Since joining chambers on successful completion of her pupillage in October 2008, Rebecca has gained experience in the Crown, Magistrates' and County Court. 

Rebecca is now regularly instructed by both prosecution and defence to appear in the Crown Court, and is involved in increasingly serious and complicated cases. Rebecca's recent appearances have included cases of serious violence, sexual offences, robbery, arson, and possession of controlled substances with intent to supply.

Rebecca is also happy to receive instructions to appear in the Magistrates' courts. She frequently appears on behalf of local solicitors to represent their clients at trial and for ancillary applications. Her practice in the lower courts is far-reaching, with her recent successes when defending including securing acquittals after trial on planning contravention matters; successfully defending care home workers of mistreatment of residents and applications to restore driving licences after disqualification. Rebecca also receives instructions to appear for various prosescuting authorities in the lower courts, including the Crown Prosecution Service, Local Authorities and Trading Standards.

While the majority of her practice is focused on criminal matters, Rebecca's civil practice encompassess a wide range of law, including insolvency; contract; employment and personal injury.

Recent and significant cases:

Defending a client accused of possession of amphetamine with intent to supply. Not Guilty verdict after full trial, on a defective police procedure/lack of continuity

Appearing as prosecution counsel on a matter of Section 18 wounding (stabbing). Conviction secured after full trial.

Appearing as prosecution counsel on behalf of Trading Standards. Conviction secured on offences of Aggressive Commercial Practice involving a vulnerable victim.

Defending a client accused of harassment. Client was acquitted following full trial.
